PURPOSE:
The cities of Littleton and Englewood entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) for the provision of a shared green business program effective August 6, 2024, which concerned funding and collaboration on sustainability-related initiatives, specifically establishing a shared green business coordinator and joint green business program management. That IGA runs through December 31, 2026, and includes an option to extend the agreement by two additional years. This amendment exercises that option allowing the IGA to run through December 31, 2028, unless terminated earlier by either city.

DISCUSSION:
This IGA has led to dozens of meetings with Littleton businesses to assess their opportunities for sustainability and provide no-cost technical assistance as they evaluate and implement strategies that enhance their environmental stewardship. More than 25 Littleton business have enrolled in the sustainable business partnership program making them eligible for and helping many achieve statewide recognition.
BACKGROUND:
This sustainable business partnership between the cities utilizes a variety of strategies including direct contact, partnering with existing organizations and events such as through the Littleton Business Chamber and the cities, as well as hosting its own events tailored towards specific environmental goals such as waste diversion and decreased consumption of electricity and natural gas.
