PURPOSE:

To approve the appointment of Loretta Huffine as the municipal court judge for the City of Littleton.

 

SUMMARY:

On July 19, 2022,  Littleton Municipal Court Judge Ethan Feldman announced his intention to retire, with September 30, 2022 being his last day.  Following Judge Feldman’s announcement, the city opened a recruitment to begin the search for a qualified candidate to serve as the next municipal court judge. A total 17 applications were received and a pool of 12 applicants, who met minimum qualifications, was vetted to city council for review and consideration.

 

On September 13, 2022 city council and a panel of city staff comprised of the court administrator, chief of police, city attorney and deputy city attorney, city manager and assistant to the city manager interviewed three (3) semi-finalists.

 

PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:

                     August 2, 2022, City Council met in Executive Session to develop and discuss Municipal Court Judge recruitment strategy.

                     September 6, 2022, City Council met in Executive Session to develop and discuss Municipal Court Judge recruitment strategy.

                     September 13, 2022, City Council met in Executive Session to interview semi-finalists.
