PURPOSE:
To approve the appointment of Loretta Huffine as the municipal court judge for the City of Littleton.
SUMMARY:
On July 19, 2022, Littleton Municipal Court Judge Ethan Feldman announced his intention to retire, with September 30, 2022 being his last day. Following Judge Feldman’s announcement, the city opened a recruitment to begin the search for a qualified candidate to serve as the next municipal court judge. A total 17 applications were received and a pool of 12 applicants, who met minimum qualifications, was vetted to city council for review and consideration.
On September 13, 2022 city council and a panel of city staff comprised of the court administrator, chief of police, city attorney and deputy city attorney, city manager and assistant to the city manager interviewed three (3) semi-finalists.
PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:
• August 2, 2022, City Council met in Executive Session to develop and discuss Municipal Court Judge recruitment strategy.
• September 6, 2022, City Council met in Executive Session to develop and discuss Municipal Court Judge recruitment strategy.
• September 13, 2022, City Council met in Executive Session to interview semi-finalists.
