SUMMARY:

On August 4, 2020, City Council directed staff to prepare an application for a Downtown Historic District inclusive of properties along Main Street and Alamo Avenue. The district would replace the existing smaller-sized Main Street opt-in Historic District.

PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:

Following City Council’s August 4, 2020 study session, the Historical Preservation Board has assisted staff with the development of the application for a new downtown historic district.   Through the use of work groups, HPB completed tasks as assigned by city staff.  The competed work was presented by HPB members at HPB study sessions, then consolidated in a HPB resolution adopted on June 21, 2021.

Beginning in June 2021, city staff has engaged property owners in the boundary of the Downtown Historic District through meetings, and mailings. Outreach to the community has been through the Littleton Report and City Council’s Eat, Meet and Greet events during this summer.

ANALYSIS:
