PURPOSE:
To provide an update on activities within the Community Development (CD) Department and proposed projects in the city

SUMMARY:
The purpose of this presentation is to provide an up-to-date view of development activity in the city. As part of the recent Design the Future Process, CD created tracking metrics for permit activity, development cases, and special projects. There is now six months of data to share with council. The CD staff has established a consistent reporting of development interests and activities to city council.

PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:
On March 26, 2019, members of the CD team presented an update on the Design the Future process
to council.

ANALYSIS:
Staff Analysis
The CD Department has experienced tremendous change and positive steps forward in the last 12 months. Through the Design the Future Process, staff has adopted a new way of doing business, integrating a mindset of operational excellence. The team has adopted and signed a set of core values for how to work with each other and how to work with the public. Staff has streamlined the residential permitting process through the implementation of the Rapid Residential Review program each Thursday.

In addition to sharing these improvements, CD staff would like to establish regular communication with council and hear from council members in regards to what they are hearing and seeing in the development world. As adoption of Littleton's Comprehensive Plan and the city's first ever Transportation Master Plan gets closer, it will be critical for council and staff to work together to ensure that development occurs in concert with the adopted plans.
