POLICY QUESTION:
Does city council support the appointment of the inaugural members of the Next Generation Advisory Committee (NGAC)?
BACKGROUND:
On February 5, 2019, city council approved Resolution 14-2019, creating the NGAC. This resolution also included by-laws and an Action Plan.
PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:
Creation of the NGAC was discussed at the March 27, 2018, June 5, 2018, and January 8, 2019 study sessions.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
On April 1, 2 and 4, Council Members Driscoll and Schlachter interviewed 21 applicants and have chosen 11 individuals to serve on the NGAC. The city clerk received 29 applications, two withdrew before interviews were scheduled, three did not schedule interviews, and three did not attend their scheduled interview.
OPTIONS/ALTERNATIVES:
• Approval of the NGAC members will allow the committee to conduct its first meeting.
• Denial of the appointment of NGAC members will effectively delay or end the work of the NGAC.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
Fiscal impacts are expected to be incidental but may change as the group evolves. Staff will reach out to council if impacts become material.

Staff recommends approval.
