REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION:
Does city council support the recommendations of the Open Space Task Force?
BACKGROUND:
In the fall of 2018, the city council sought to develop an updated strategy for the allocation of open space funds. The project built upon a task force report from 2014 of which the primary focus was land acquisition. This new report outlines a strategy and recommendations for current reserves and future Arapahoe County Open Space allocations based on several plans developed by both Littleton and partner organizations.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
The Open Space Task Force Final Report outlines several key recommendations to direct and support open space planning moving forward. These recommendations can form the basis for city council policy.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
If adopted, this will serve as the new five-year plan for the allocation of resources related to open space, trails, parks, and land acquisitions.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Review the task force recommendations and provide guidance on future policy development.
OPTIONS/ALTERNATIVES:
1. Do not support the recommendations and stay with existing open space policies.
2. Support the recommendations and a new five-year plan.
