REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION:
Does city council support the motion to authorize the City Manager to execute a license with South Metro Fire Rescue Fire Protection District (South Metro) for the use of certain facilities located at Station 12 for emergency operations and information technology?
BACKGROUND:
The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and certain IT system equipment are located at Station 12. The IT equipment is located inside a small closet. There are also antennas on the roof of the building.
PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:
The Pre-Unification Agreement with South Metro was approved on April 18, 2018.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
The IT Director is evaluating the future placement of the equipment but at this time the city has no plans to relocate the equipment prior to 12/31/2018. Therefore, as part of the Pre-Unification Agreement, the city has negotiated a license to use the space at Station 12 to store the equipment and share the EOC space. This license will be renewable on a year to year basis.
OPTIONS/ALTERNATIVES:
Option A: Approve the motion to authorize the City Manager to execute the license.
Option B: Do not approve the motion to authorize the City Manager to execute the license. If the license is not approved the city will have to find an alternative location for its EOC, equipment, and antennae.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
N/A
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends council approve the motion to authorize the City Manager to execute the license.
