REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION:
Does city council support authorizing the conveyance of certain real property from Littleton Fire Rescue (LFR) Station 19 to South Metro Fire Rescue Fire Protection District?

BACKGROUND:
Section 60 of the Littleton City Charter requires that actions involving the conveyance of real property of the city, other than parks and open space, must be done by ordinance. On April 18, 2018, the city entered into a pre-unification agreement with South Metro Fire Rescue Fire Protection District for the provision of fire and emergency medical services. The qualified voters of the city approved the inclusion on November 6, 2018. The pre-unification agreement provides for the conveyance of the real property of LFR (the partnership between City of Littleton, Littleton Fire Protection District, and Highlands Ranch Metropolitan District), to the South Metro Fire Rescue Fire Protection District.

PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:
City council adopted the pre-unification agreement with South Metro Fire Rescue Fire Protection District on April 18, 2018.

STAFF ANALYSIS:
Four of the nine fire stations operated by LFR, are owned by the City of Littleton. Station 19, along with 12 and 16, will be conveyed to South Metro Fire Rescue Fire Protection District. Station 11 will be leased to South Metro Fire Rescue Fire Protection District as it is part of the Littleton Center. The proposed ordinance and action is one of a number of steps to formally implement the pre-unification agreement.
