Presented By:

Jocelyn Mills, Community Development Director and Paul Bryant, Bryant Flink Architecture and Design

REQUESTED PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION:

Review a presentation by Paul Bryant regarding the Belleview Avenue and Santa Fe corridors.

BACKGROUND:

Envision Littleton is developing a unifying vision and set of guiding principles for Littleton that will directly inform the City’s plans for the next 10-20 years.  The vision is the initial step in a larger process to update the city’s comprehensive plan and create a master transportation plan (to be completed in 2019).  Additionally, the city also recently wrapped up a process to establish the Belleview Corridor Vision, which was adopted on July 17, 2018.

Staff is in full recognition that there are many moving parts relative to local and regional land use and transportation priorities.   Paul Bryant of Bryant Flink Architecture will be presenting a strategy for parallel work on key corridor opportunities, namely the Santa Fe and Belleview Avenue corridors.

On October 8, 2018, Paul Bryant presented this same presentation to city council, and council asked it be presented to the commission.  City council also asked staff to bring back to them a scope of work for getting underway with implementation of the Belleview Corridor Vision, and to outline what the city needs to do planning-wise for the upcoming PEL that CDOT will be spearheading for South Santa Fe Drive in 2020.  Staff is vetting these along with the schedule and scope for the comprehensive plan and transportation master plan; to bring to city council to finalize later this year/early next year.  All of these city projects would be slated to get underway in 2019.
