REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION:

Does city council support awarding a 0% pay increase for the city attorney based on the 2018 performance evaluation?

 

BACKGROUND:

At a previous city council meeting, the city council appointed Mayor Debbie Brinkman and Mayor Pro Tem Jerry Valdes to serve as the members of the council appointee review committee.  The committee is responsible for directing the annual review process for all council appointees. 

 

STAFF ANALYSIS:

N/A

 

FISCAL IMPACTS:

There are no fiscal impacts as it is a 0% pay increase.

 

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:

The City Attorney received an acceptable 2018 performance review. However, since the City Attorney’s salary was recently adjusted after admission to the Colorado Bar, no increase is recommended at this time.

 

PROPOSED MOTION:

I move to award a salary increase equivalent to 0% of the city attorney’s base salary; the human resources director is hereby directed to work with outside counsel to prepare, and the mayor is authorized to execute an amendment to the city attorney's employment contract, effective August 7, 2018. The contract should reflect the new effective date and the pay change for admission to the Colorado Bar.
