REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION:
Does city council support approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Arapahoe County Open Space to receive grant funds for Field Elementary School playground improvements?
BACKGROUND:
At the request of Littleton Public Schools, city council approved the submission of a grant application on April 3, 2018 to Arapahoe County Open Space to fund the renovation of the playground equipment at Field Elementary School. Staff was notified on July 24, 2018 that funding for the grant was awarded in the amount of $287,942. The only change made to previous IGAs approved by city council is the requirement to add on-site construction signage.
PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:
City council has previously approved IGAs for playground improvements in 2016, for Damon Runyon Elementary School, and in 2015, for Centennial Academy.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
The IGA is required by Arapahoe County to accept grant funds from the Arapahoe County Open Space Grant Program within 60 days of the award.
OPTIONS/ALTERNATIVES:
If the IGA is not approved, then the playground improvements will not be funded.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
A budget amendment is being presented tonight on second reading that will formally amend the 2018 budget to include funding for this grant from the open space fund. City staff will act as the administrative agent for the grant.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
