REQUESTED BOARD ACTION:
The Historical Preservation Board for review grant applications for funding from the Main Street Historic Grant program and allocate funds consistent with the criteria per section 4-6-12(E) of the city code and the 2018 Main Street Historic Preservation Grant Program.

Two complete applications were received for this grant round and are as follows:

1. The Spotswood Residence (HGRT18-0001) - a maintenance project for repair of existing historic windows
2. The J.D. Hill General Store (HGRT18-0003) - a maintenance project for replacement of faulty electrical boxes

PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:
The Historical Preservation Board (HPB) has awarded funds from the Main Street Historic District Grant program per section 4-6-12(E) of the city code since 2006.

Process
In 2018, the Historical Preservation Board established two grant rounds. The second round will be held only if there are remaining funds.

There were two complete applications submitted for the first grant round. Both applications are for maintenance work and do not require certificates of historic appropriateness (COA). The applicants may apply for building permits, as needed, at any time for the work described in their respective grant applications.

CRITERIA & STAFF ANALYSIS:
The Main Street Historic District Grant Program is established per Section 4-6-12(E) of the city code. The HPB has established additional discretionary criteria, as permitted in Section 4-6-12(E) and is set for the in the 2018 Main Street Historic District Grant Program brochure. The staff analysis addresses all applicable criteria for each application.
