Keith Reester, Public Works Director

BACKGROUND:

In June of 2017 the city council directed staff to undertake a new approach to engaging the community concerning a specific topic - Explore Downtown’s Strengths. Through several outreach sessions and the online tool Open Littleton, staff compiled a report and presented the information to council August 22, 2017. City council requested staff to “drill down” further into some of the main themes including parking, accessibility, and marketing of downtown. This second round of engagement occurred in October 2017.

This update to city council provides an overview of the findings in the drill down, reviews the weakness in some data, and identifies possible short and long term projects and plans.

Staff also prepared a comparison of Littleton’s downtown characteristics with those of high performing downtowns utilizing the National Main Street framework as a tool.

Staff will review this new information with city council.
