Review of the draft Belleview Corridor Plan

Body

Presented By:

Dennis Swain, Senior Planner

BACKGROUND:

During Littleton City Council’s Priorities Workshop on April 28, 2017, City Council identified the Belleview Corridor as an area in need of an updated vision and a plan for achieving that vision. Since then, city staff and our consultant, Clarion Associates, have gathered background information on the study area, and ideas and comments from area residents and property owners on what they see as current issues and their vision for the corridor.  The consultants prepared a retail analysis and the consultants used the background information and the ideas and comments received to date as the basis for a draft vision statement and a draft set of principles, goals, and policies.

At a February 26, 2018 study session with the Planning Commission, Darcie White of Clarion Associates provided an update on the process to date and an overview of the draft plan and its two supporting appendices.

After that study session, the draft plan was posted on OpenLittleton.org and the consultants and staff edited the draft plan in response to the comments received at the study session, from city staff, and online. The resulting draft plan was presented at a third open house on March 22, 2018, and on OpenLittleton.org. Comments from the open house, city staff, and Open Littleton were incorporated into the current draft plan and its two appendices.

On March 14, 2018 the draft plan was discussed during a study session with Planning Commission.  Comments from the commission have been incorporated into the document.

NEXT STEPS:

The plan is scheduled to proceed from the May 22 study session to a June 11 public hearing before the Planning Commission to consider a recommendation to City Council.  Finally, the plan is tentatively scheduled to be considered by City Council on July 17.
