Study session on community visioning process with Kendig Keast

Body

Presented By:

Jocelyn Mills, Community Development Director

REQUESTED ACTION:

The purpose of this study session is to introduce council to the Kendig Keast team, and to informally discuss the upcoming community visioning process.  The team and staff are especially interested in obtaining preliminary city council input in order to set “big picture” direction and priorities for the visioning process.

In addition to meeting with city council, the Kendig Keast team will be meeting with planning commission and community members in a series of informal meetings to gather input and perspectives to help set the stage for the visioning process.  After these informal conversations are held, the next step will be establishing a detailed community engagement plan for the visioning process.  It is anticipated the visioning process will take approximately eight months to complete.

BACKGROUND:

On March 3, 2018 city council approved a resolution regarding its strategic imperatives which included directing staff to undertake a community engagement process to establish a community vision for Littleton.  The city entered into a contract with the firm of Kendig Keast to assist in this effort.

Attached to this staff communication is the preliminary overview of the vision to comprehensive plan that council approved on March 3, 2018.
