Body

Presented By:

Steve Kemp, City Attorney

REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION:

Does city council support confirming the appointment of an associate municipal judge for the Littleton Municipal Court?

BACKGROUND:

Judge Feldman was reappointed by the city council as the presiding municipal court judge on February 1, 2017.  As the presiding municipal judge he will recommend the confirmation of associate municipal judges as necessary to the council.  The associate municipal judges work on a part time basis as needed to assist in the court’s caseload.  They are paid on an hourly basis of $90.00 per hour.  Based on the current caseload of the court and the availability of other associate judges, the presiding municipal judge has recommended the appointment of Vincent Atencio as an associate municipal judge.  Judge Atencio was the presiding municipal judge in Englewood and has extensive experience as a municipal judge.  This appointment will allow for effective management of the Court’s caseload.
