SUMMARY

Consultants Diane Wray Tomasso and Michael Paglia will discuss their work to date on the Littleton Boulevard Historic Building Survey.  The survey is funded jointly by the city and a certified local government grant through History Colorado. The survey is expected to be complete in July 2018.

BACKGROUND

West Littleton Boulevard became the city’s principal commercial strip in the decades after World War II. The Littleton Boulevard Historic Building Survey identifies mid-modern century commercial buildings along West Littleton Boulevard eastward to South Broadway, and those buildings within one block north or south.  The project also identifies buildings along Main Street within the same era.

The project adds the city’s prior survey efforts of the 2001 citywide Historic Building Survey by Front Range Associates and the 2008 mid-century Historic Context Survey by Diane Wray Tomasso.  The Littleton Boulevard Historic Building Survey will help define the character, role and desired land uses for Littleton Boulevard and will identify architecturally and historically significant buildings that are eligible for designation under the city’s historic preservation program.
