Update on the Belleview Avenue Corridor Plan

During Littleton City Council's Priorities Workshop on April 28, 2017, City Council identified the Belleview Corridor (west of Santa Fe to Bow Mar) as an area in need of improvements and a plan for future development, re-development and preservation. City staff has hired Clarion Associates to assist us in developing a corridor plan that will help guide future development and re-development along the corridor. Community Development staff started the process with the Littleton Listens approach. This approach allowed us to gather community, business and property owner feedback and use the feedback to help guide us in developing a corridor plan.

The first neighborhood community outreach meeting was held on October 26, 2017 at the St. James Presbyterian Church on Lowell and Belleview and another communitywide open house on February 5, 2018. With over one hundred people attending the most recent meeting, the open house format provided a good opportunity for each person to review and comment on the consultant and staff's consolidation of what they had gathered from the initial commercial property owners along Belleview and technical stakeholder interviews (i.e. City of Englewood, Town of BowMar, South Suburban Parks and Recreation, Littleton Public Works and Traffic staff, etc.); from comments at the first outreach meeting; and from comments posted after the first meeting on OpenLittleton.org.

During the February 5, 2018 community meeting, the informational boards stationed around the room provided 1) an introduction to the planning process, an overview of existing conditions in the study area, and the issues and opportunities those conditions present; 2) a draft vision statement for the corridor and a set of principles, goals, and policies for achieving that vision; and 3) possible near-term and long-term opportunity areas in the co...
