Title
A Resolution for a Floodplain Use by Special Exception Permit for Modification of the Jackass Gulch Floodplain at Santa Fe Park North, Located at the Southwest Corner of Santa Fe Drive and Mineral Avenue
Body

Presented By:
Carolyn Roan, Water Resource Manager and Anastasia Urban, Development Services Manager

PROPOSED PROJECT:
The request is to modify the site at 7875 S Santa Fe Drive (called Santa Fe Park North), by placing fill material and constructing a channel for Jackass Gulch, located in the southwest corner of Santa Fe Drive and Mineral Avenue. The minor storm events in Jackass Gulch are contained in storm sewer, so the proposed channel is a flood overflow channel only. The proposed grass-lined channel will include drop structures and a box culvert and a "spreader pond feature" at the downstream end.

STAFF ANALYSIS:
Staff finds that the application meets the requirements of Littleton Municipal Code Title 10, Chapter 6 (floodplain regulations). The proposed channel as presented will contain 100-year flood flows and convey them safely to South Platte Park and confluence with the South Platte River. The project will not increase risk to public health, safety and general welfare, and will minimize public and private losses due to flooding.
