POLICY QUESTION:
Does city council support approval of an agreement contributing $75,000 towards the conservation and restoration of the South Platte River?
BACKGROUND:
The 500 acre-foot environmental pool is owned by the Colorado Water Conservation Board. The water rights to fill the pool will come from the Central Colorado Water Conservancy District which will also fund the operations and maintenance of the pool and capture and use the water for agricultural purposes downstream of Denver.
Flows in the South Platte River below Chatfield Reservoir will increase as a result of this project thanks to The Greenway Foundation, in partnership with Denver Water.
