Jocelyn Mills,  Community Development Director

In fall of 2016, City Council identified a need for a new approach to community engagement and in March of 2017, Community Development, Communications, Economic Development and Public Works staff created a new outreach program called “Littleton Listens”.  This new platform was designed using the Appreciative Inquiry and Hans Bleiker’s Systematic Development of Informed Consent models.   This new outreach method encourages participants to discuss existing strengths and goals with the intention of amplifying the positive aspects of our city.  Staff conducted three, in person outreach meetings and utilized Open Littleton to replicate the process online.  We focused on the Downtown area, specifically parking and related concerns.  Overall the outreach events were successful, well attended and provided staff with positive, creative and valuable feedback on the vision and future of downtown.  During the August 22nd study session, staff will be presenting our findings and outcomes and discuss our next steps and council direction.
