Ordinance on second reading approving a CenturyLink Loyal Advantage Agreement between CenturyLink Communications, LLC, and the City of Littleton for Internet services

Body

Presented By:

Ken C. Price, Information Services Director

POLICY QUESTION:

Does city council support approving a 60-month agreement with CenturyLink for Internet services at the Littleton Center?

BACKGROUND:

The city receives CenturyLink Internet services at the Littleton Center via a fiber optic connection to Arapahoe County.  As part of the city’s CenturyLink franchise agreement, CenturyLink installed a new fiber connection to the Littleton Center. The CenturyLink Loyal Advantage Agreement will allow the city to access Internet services directly from CenturyLink over the fiber optic connection at the Littleton Center.

STAFF ANALYSIS:

By signing this agreement, the city will see a reduction in the cost of Internet services.

FISCAL IMPACTS:

Total monthly recurring charges: $ 1,580 (current cost is $2,000 per month).

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the ordinance approving a CenturyLink Loyal Advantage Agreement for Internet services be approved.

PROPOSED MOTION:

Proposed Motion

I move to approve on second reading the ordinance approving a CenturyLink Loyal Advantage Agreement between CenturyLink Communications, LLC, and the City of Littleton for Internet.
