POLICY QUESTION:
Does city council support accepting $7,790.46 from Arapahoe Community College to purchase a solar powered pedestrian crossing signal for the intersection of West Church Avenue and South Curtice Street?
BACKGROUND:
Arapahoe Community College would like to contribute $7,790.46 to the city to purchase a solar powered pedestrian crossing signal and other items to improve safety for its students.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
Staff supports the installation of the pedestrian crossing signal at this highly utilized intersection. The Traffic Division will install the signal and will assume responsibility for all ongoing maintenance of the equipment described within the agreement.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
The addition of one pedestrian crossing signal will have little to no impact on the annual traffic signal maintenance program. Arapahoe Community College is purchasing the pedestrian crossing signal at no cost to the city.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends accepting the contribution fora pedestrian traffic signal from Arapahoe Community College.
