PURPOSE:
Appoint two new members to the Aspen Grove Business Improvement District (BID) due to vacancies.
LONG-TERM OUTCOME(S) SERVED:
Providing high quality governance.
DISCUSSION:
The Aspen Grove BID was established by the city in 2000 and is governed by a five-member board of directors appointed by city council. This is a routine administrative matter required of the city council per the District’s by-laws.
BACKGROUND:
There are currently two vacancies on the Board. Colo. Rev. Stat. 31-25-1209(1)(b) requires that the city council appoint new board members within 30 days of any vacancy. The BID has petitioned city council to appoint Mandi Garrison, Assistant Property Manager with Gerrity, and Janet Jerde, Director of Marketing with See-Jane-Work. Both are eligible to register to vote in the State of Colorado and are eligible to serve on the BID’s board of directors either as the owner or lessee of taxable real property located within the BID’s boundaries.
Prior Actions or Discussions
The most recent BID board of directors appointments to fill vacancies occurred on March 21, 2023 when two vacancies were filled.
