PURPOSE:

Staff update and overview of the current Communications, Marketing and Event department. A look at the current program and future opportunities to remain positioned to meet the evolving needs of the community.

DISCUSSION:

The Communications Department is critical to serving the community and supporting the organization’s broader mission and strategic goals. Over the past 6 months, staff has strengthened collaboration across teams, improved efficiency in daily operations, and introduced new initiatives to enhance both internal and external services. This is a high-level overview of where the Communications department is today and a look ahead at the vision for the future.

 

BACKGROUND:

The Communications Department plays a vital role in advancing council’s priorities by ensuring clear, consistent, and accessible information for the community. Through strategic messaging, public engagement, and transparent storytelling, staff connects residents with council initiatives and foster trust in the decision-making process. These efforts support council’s vision by promoting understanding, encouraging participation, and highlighting the positive impact of city programs and services.
