Subject:

Title

Motion to appoint Nancy Hopf as substitute municipal court judge for a two-year term.

Body

Presented By:

Ethan Feldman, Municipal Court Judge

POLICY QUESTION:

Does city council support appointing Nancy Hopf as a substitute municipal court judge for a two-year term?

BACKGROUND:

Judge Feldman was reappointed as the presiding municipal court judge on February 1, 2015. Pursuant to Section 58 of the Littleton City Charter, city council, in its discretion, may appoint additional judges.  The court currently operates with three substitute judges: Benjamin Currier, Tracy Dawson and Steven Katzman.  One of the judges needs to take a leave of absence and Judge Feldman would like to appoint an additional associate judge.

FISCAL IMPACTS:

No additional fiscal impact is anticipated.

PROPOSED MOTION:

Proposed Motion

I move to appoint Nancy Hopf as a substitute municipal court judge for a two-year term, effective September 23, 2015.  The city attorney is directed to prepare, and the mayor is authorized to execute, a two-year contract with Judge Hopf.
