PURPOSE:
This joint study session will allow the Housing Task Force and Planning Commission discuss potential strategies to increase the number and types of housing units in Littleton.

DISCUSSION:
The Housing Task Force will provide an overview of current efforts to increase the number and diversity of housing units in Littleton and provide recommendations for Planning Commission consideration and future updates to the land use code.
BACKGROUND:
In 2017, the city commissioned a housing study to analyze the housing needs in Littleton. The Littleton Housing Study Advisory Committee was created to lead the process and BBC Research and Consulting was contracted to conduct the study.
The consultant team from BBC Research and Consulting presented the draft findings from the report at a study session on June 13, 2017. From that session, BBC took council comments and prepared a final report. The project was then slated to proceed to development of draft implementation strategies with the assistance of the advisory committee.
In August 2018 recommendations from BBC and the Housing Study Advisory Committee were presented and adopted by City Council. Given their adoption by City Council, the Housing Study Committee Recommendations became city policy, leading to their subsequent incorporation in the City's adopted Comprehensive Plan in 2019.
Created in April 2020, the Housing Task Force, staffed by South Metro Housing Options (SMHO), continues to support, and develop the vision for future housing development and strategic planning in Littleton that is based on the City Council adopted Housing Study Recommendations. ...
