Subject:

Title

Resolution authorizing an intergovernmental agreement between the City of Littleton and the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority

Body

Presented By:

Chris Armstrong, Fire Chief

POLICY QUESTION:

Does city council support amending the intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with South Metro Fire Rescue Authority (SMFRA)?

BACKGROUND:

Littleton Fire Rescue has an IGA with SMFRA that includes provisions for auto and mutual aid for fire and medical incidents. Compliance with the terms of the auto aid portion of the IGA has proven a challenge for both Littleton Fire Rescue (LFR) and SMFRA, and has developed into a closest unit response model which strains both departments’ resources. The chiefs of both agencies agree that the proposed changes are necessary to reflect current practice.

STAFF ANALYSIS:

Staff analysis of LFR’s response model indicates that this is the best and most appropriate practice.

FISCAL IMPACTS:

There is no fiscal impact to this agreement.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of the resolution.

PROPOSED MOTION:

Proposed Motion

I move to approve the resolution authorizing an intergovernmental agreement between the City of Littleton and the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority.
