PURPOSE:
This is an annual renewal of the existing Indoor Space License Agreement between LPD and LPS for use of a classroom at East Community Center. The LPD utilizes this space to hold community meetings, officer report writing, and training. It allows community members utilizing East Community Center to interact with officers in an informal manner and promotes accessibility and trust within the community.

DISCUSSION:
The LPD has partnered with LPS at East Community Center since it opened and has utilized a classroom at the center to provide interactive experiences with community members. While the center has been found to lack open access and regular foot traffic, the LPD remains committed to maintaining a presence at the center. Officers often spend time at the center writing reports or taking breaks. Staff has used the space for training and community meetings have taken place at the center.
The LPD would like to continue the relationship and partnership with East Community Center in 2026.
BACKGROUND:
The LPD and LPS enjoy a strong relationship built on mutual respect and trust. The opportunity to join LPS in the launch of East Community Center was welcomed by our department and supported by City Council with the approval of the initial space license agreement in 2024.

FISCAL IMPACTS:
