Mike Braaten, Deputy City Manager |
POLICY QUESTION:
Does city council support approval of an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with Arapahoe County to accept a grant of open space funds to fabricate and install the first phase of new signage in South Platte Park and along the Mary Carter Greenway?
BACKGROUND:
Staff applied for funding to the Arapahoe County Open Space Small Project Grant Program to implement the first phase of the new signage master plan for South Platte Park and the Mary Carter Greenway and was awarded a grant of $50,000. Staff applied for the small grant program for this project since the city is limited to two standard project applications and one small grant application per cycle.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
Adoption of the IGA will allow the city and South Suburban Parks and Recreation (SSPR) to leverage their committed funding to the project and implement the first of three phases of new signs in the park and along the greenway.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
Council dedicated $75,000 to this project in the 2015 budget. Additionally, SSPR dedicated $35,000 to the project for a total of $110,000. The grant funds bring the total funds available for new signage to $160,000.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
PROPOSED MOTION:
