Mayor Pro Tem Bruce Beckman and Council Member Debbie Brinkman, City Council Appointee Review Committee |
POLICY QUESTION:
Does city council support appointing Ethan Feldman as municipal court judge for an additional two-year term, with a $10 per hour increase, based on high performance ratings?
BACKGROUND:
At the August 5, 2014 city council meeting, the city council appointed Mayor Pro Tem Beckman and Council Member Brinkman to serve as the appointee review committee. The committee is responsible for directing the annual review process for all council appointees.
In accordance with Section 58 of the Littleton City Charter, the municipal court judge is appointed by council for a term of two years.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
In accordance with the newly adopted city code section 1-6-20, the judge's compensation will be set at an annual amount of $72,360, but will be adjusted based on a fixed formula of number of hours worked multiplied by an hourly rate of $90.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
Because the city council has given Judge Feldman high performance ratings, the committee recommends appointment for an additional two-year term and an increase in hourly rate from $80 to $90.
PROPOSED MOTION:
Proposed Motion
