POLICY QUESTION:
Does city council support the appointment and reappointment of LIFT Board candidates to fill five vacancies?
BACKGROUND:
At the December 19, 2017 regular city council meeting, staff was directed to work with the mayor and mayor pro tem on an expedited recruitment process for the vacancies on the city’s Urban Renewal Board, LIFT.
Based on the recommended expedited timeline, advertising began on December 1, 2017 and ran through January 8, 2018. The mayor and mayor pro tem conducted in-person public interviews with the 12 responding candidates.
At the January 23, 2018 city council study session, the mayor presented the following recommendations for appointment:

STAFF ANALYSIS
If the recommended appointments are approved, a LIFT Board meeting is scheduled for February 8, 2018 at which time the newly appointed and reappointed board members will be seated and the LIFT Board will select a chair and co-chair.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
Members of city authorities, boards and commissions serve on a volunteer basis.
