DISCUSSION:

Staff have prepared a high-level presentation highlighting current code restrictions, recent noise complaint data, challenges and goals, and policy considerations. The intent is to discuss the policy considerations and subsequently bring a text amendment to the City Code for council’s consideration.

BACKGROUND:

Community Development, Police, and Economic Development staff have received a number of inquiries and complaints regarding the noise ordinance.  Through the implementation of the noise ordinance, staff have encountered several sections of the code that are difficult to enforce.  Those enforcement challenges have initiated this study session to discuss high level policy considerations and the potential for future City Code updates.
