SUMMARY:
On February 5, 2019, city council voted to approve the creation of the Next Generation Advisory Committee (NGAC), to be made up of seven (7) to eleven (11) members who either live, work, or attend school in the City of Littleton, with terms to begin in May of 2019. On February 18, 2020, city council voted to amend the NGAC bylaws which allowed for, in part, the increase of maximum number of members from eleven (11) to fifteen (15).
To fill the increased number of members and backfill vacancies, in February and March of 2020 the city ran a recruitment campaign on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Nextdoor, and on the city’s website. Additionally, flyers were posted in restaurants and given to schools to be handed out to parents at PTO meetings and with meals to go. Due to COVID-19, it is unclear how many, if any, of the flyers were distributed to students.
PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:
On May 19, 2020 council voted to approve appointment of nine (9) new members and reappointed of three (3) members to NGAC, creating a board of twelve (12). The board recently lost two members to resignation, prompting a new recruitment to fill those positions as well as additional positions to fill the board to capacity at fifteen (15).
On July 13, 2020, Mayor Pro Tem Melin and Council Member Grove scheduled interviews with seven (7) potential candidates, recommending five (5) for appointment thereby creating a full committee of fifteen (15).
