PURPOSE:
The purpose of this ordinance is to update some of the language in our code to correctly reflect some of the naming convention changes that Council approved back on February 6, 2024 that were inadvertently missed at the overall adoption.

LONG-TERM OUTCOME(S) SERVED:
High Quality Governance

DISCUSSION:
On February 6, 2024 Council voted to approve certain changes to the City's previous naming conventions related to Authority, Boards, Commissions, and Committees to provide more clarity and denote the purpose of the body.

* Authorities are quasi-governmental entities created to perform specific functions or services and are separate body corporates whose boards are appointed by city council. No naming changes will be the result of these code changes.
* Commissions will be understood through their naming convention to be quasi-judicial bodies.
* Boards will be bodies who serve an ongoing advisory role to council.
* Committees will be advisory bodies convened for a specific purpose and deliverable and reviewed once their purpose has been met.

During the drafting of the original ordinance there were some omissions, and the purpose is to update those. In discovering those omissions there were references in the licensing provision that referred to the Uniform Building Code that has since been updated to the International Building Codes that should also be changed for consistency.
