PURPOSE:
Does city council support a grant application to Arapahoe County Open Spaces (ACOS) for planning and design of improvements to the Superchi property adjacent to Reynolds Landing Park and the South Platte River?

SUMMARY:
The purpose of the project is to inform future property use and programming of the parcel of land commonly known as the Superchi property. The planning study will also determine how to best integrate future use into the surrounding area including the park and river access at Reynolds Landing. The upland improvements for Reynolds Landing were completed in 2016 in partnership with Mile High Flood District (MHFD) and Arapahoe County Open Spaces. Additional future improvements to the area were anticipated at the time and have not yet been constructed.
PRIOR ACTIONS OR DISCUSSIONS:
Historically, the city has applied for numerous grants through the Arapahoe County Open Spaces grant program to make improvements to many parks and trails located in the city limits. The 2020 budget includes appropriation for this grant project through the Open Space Fund.
ANALYSIS:
Staff Analysis
The grant request will be $90,000 with an additional $10,000 in local grant match for a total project cost of $100,000. The resolution language is required by ACOS. If awarded, the project will likely start in 2020.
